ACSA’s first-ever “All-ACSA” conference was held March 25-28, 1972 at the Anaheim Convention Center. An estimated 5,000 members attended the conference with the theme “Which Way California.”
Attendees participated in 160 “share and tell” sessions and numerous breakfasts and luncheons for job-alike groups and committees, which were listed in the conference program. General session speakers included President Johnson’s former Special Assistant for Consumer Affairs Betty Furness, columnist for The Washington Post Art Buchwald, and former Cleveland Mayor Carl Stokes.
All the action was covered in a daily conference newspaper called “Roundup” that was prepared by members of the Southern California and Northern California chapters of the National School Public Relations Association. Roundup was produced from editorial offices at the Convention Center and printed overnight “to keep the news fresh and up-to-date.”
