The Charter Oak Unified School District celebrated its 130th anniversary, marking a legacy of educational excellence and community involvement.
Established in 1894, the district has grown from a single schoolhouse to a thriving academic institution serving thousands of students across nine schools. The district celebrated at Charter Oak High School on Aug. 12 with festivities including performances by student groups and a keynote address from Colonel Arthur J. Athens, USMCR (Ret.), who presented on teamwork and leadership.
Representatives from Assemblymember Blanca Rubio and Senator Susan Rubio’s offices were in attendance, along with Covina Councilmember Walter Allen III and Glendora Councilmembers Karen Davis and David Fredendall.
Superintendent Jeffrey Jordan expressed pride in the district’s achievements and gratitude to the community for its unwavering support.
“This anniversary is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our educators, students, parents, and community members. We are committed to continuing our 130-year tradition of impacting lives and preparing our students for bright futures,” Jordan said.
