A sign of the times: Preparing to reopen
February 8, 2021
Beverly Hills USD has responded to the global pandemic with agility and collaboration, so that when the time comes, students will be ready to get back to the classroom.
The district, which is currently in distance-only instruction, has received a TK-2 waiver and is waiting for Los Angeles County health metrics to improve before reopening.
The district is delivering a robust online instructional offering through its 1:1 device program that covers the youngest learners in TK through seniors.
BHUSD continues to evaluate student progress through daily assessments and benchmarks to identify and address any educational gaps. The Education Services department is working hand in hand with school sites and leveraging additional tutoring services, such as AirTutors, to support students in real-time.
The district has rolled out a regular testing program as well as state-of-the-art thermal technology that can take the temperature of up to 5,000 people in 30 minutes at all school sites. The Board of Education has invested in MERV-13 filters districtwide and ample PPE for students and staff.
The leadership team is also working in collaboration with the Beverly Hills Education Foundation to create additional summer school opportunities for students who may be struggling academically due to the pandemic. The dedication of teachers is the most impactful element for students, as they provide exceptional instruction but equally as important, social-emotional wellness support.
