As school districts across California navigate increasingly complex labor negotiations, ACSA continues to stand alongside education leaders with timely legal and strategic support.
Recently, ACSA’s Legal Support Team provided strike-preparation guidance to West Contra Costa Unified School District as it faced an active labor dispute. The training was led by Joe Jones, a member of ACSA’s Legal Support Team and a seasoned practitioner with more than 20 years of experience providing strike-preparation training and labor relations guidance to California school districts.
The support focused on helping district leadership understand the Public Employment Relations Board impasse process, legal considerations related to union activity, and strategies for maintaining operational readiness in the event of a work stoppage. ACSA’s assistance also addressed proactive planning areas such as leadership coordination, campus safety, communications with families and the community, media protocols, and maintaining continuity of instruction for students.
This work reflects ACSA’s commitment to ensuring administrators are well-prepared, legally informed, and supported during high-stakes situations that directly impact school communities.
