ACSA Vice President Diego Ochoa gave testimony in support of ACSA co-sponsored bill AB 2008, authored by Assemblymember Dr. Darshana Patel.
ACSA and its members are advocating to reduce reporting burdens for LEAs. AB 2008 would ease reporting burdens by automatically repealing new reports placed on LEAs after four years (unless extended) and would require the CDE to develop a single, streamlined reporting template.
The bill is co-sponsored by ACSA, CASBO, CSBA, and SSDA.
“Every hour spent on duplicative reporting is an hour not spent supporting students, teachers, and schools,” said Ochoa, superintendent of San Mateo-Foster City School District. “The current reporting burdens placed on school districts is significant, fragmented, and often pulls administrators away from the work that matters most.”
