ACSA’s next leaders chosen
May 24, 2021
Members of ACSA’s Leadership Assembly have voted for the next leaders of the association.
Parvin Ahmadi has been elected ACSA Vice President. The superintendent of Castro Valley USD and current ACSA board member representing Region 6 will serve as ACSA President in the 2023-24 school year.
Gina Potter has been elected ACSA Vice President for Legislative Action. The superintendent of San Ysidro School District in Region 18 will serve a two-year term starting in the 2021-22 school year.
The field of seven candidates for the two offices were each given three minutes to speak to the assembly prior to the electronic vote.
Candidates who receive a majority of votes are the winners. If no majority is reached, then the lowest vote-getter is removed from the ballot and another vote takes place. The office of vice president took one round of voting while the office of Vice President for Legislative Action required three rounds of voting.
The Leadership Assembly met virtually May 13 for its last meeting of the year. They participated in part three of a workshop on “Racial Healing and Developing Allies” from Tovi Scruggs-Hussein.
ACSA President Ron Williams presided over his final Leadership Assembly and welcomed ACSA President-elect Charlie Hoffman, who will be the next leader of ACSA.
“I am honored to be in this role and will try to live up to the example set by Linda [Kaminski], Ron and Holly [Edds] and those before me,” Hoffman said.
