During ACSA’s Legislative Action Days, members of the California Alliance of Equity Administrators (CAEA) and ACSA Legislative Advocate Diana Vu met with the consultants of the API, Latino, and Black legislative caucuses.
CAEA members who participated were:
- Dr. Daryl Camp, ACSA President.
- Dr. Antoine Hawkins, CAAASA President.
- Dr. Diann Kitamura, CAAPLE Executive Director.
- Dr. Juan Santos, CALSA President.
- Jessica Ochoa, CALSA CEO.
- Dr. Tracie Noriega, ACSA Sr. Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Professional Learning.
The CAEA contingent shared the purpose and origin of the alliance along with their three priorities: 1) Building strong pipelines and retention supports for Black, Latino, and AAPI educators, 2) Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students, staff, and community; advocating for a culturally, linguistically, and inclusive curriculum, 3) Determining goals and staffing for the Office of Civil Rights.
Consultants for each of the diversity caucuses were pleased to know that the alliance existed. CAEA members offered their knowledge and experience to the legislators, especially as it relates to educational issues and priorities.
