Calaveras County students celebrated with ESS award

Schools in Calaveras County each nominate one student to receive a Every Student Succeeding award every year. ESS is an ACSA program created to honor students who have risen through challenges and adversity to succeed and shine in their academic journey.
ACSA started ESS in 1996 and is celebrating 27 years of the program. Calaveras County Superintendent of Schools Karen Vail, also ACSA’s Motherlode Charter president, hosted an event honoring these students in February.
“Hearing the students’ stories is very inspiring and warms my heart,” Vail said.
ACSA members nominate students for ESS awards at the local level and send nominations to region leadership, which then selects one region ESS winner to be honored at the state level.
