Classified leaders get some love at virtual CEL Institute
March 15, 2021
Classified leaders from throughout California joined the first ever virtual Classified Educational Leaders Institute Feb. 24-25.
Keynote Kevin Bracy expressed that classified leaders are the “behind the scenes” difference makers in education and often don’t get the attention they deserve.
“We’re settling this right now classified professionals: You are the infrastructure to education,” he said. “We need you to stand firm through these difficult times, because without you, without what you bring to education, we can’t function.”
They also heard from keynote speaker Dr. Joelle Hood, who shared strategies for building resilience. She also led attendees through a breathing exercise: “Breathing in I do my best. Breathing out, I let go of all the rest.”
Presenters shared tips for creating a strong culture among classified employees and heard the latest developments from the state Capitol. Entertainment was provided by Brian Bakes Cakes, who gave attendees simple spring baking ideas during a live cooking demo.
