More than 500 district and county leaders from throughout the state gathered in Indian Wells Jan. 24-26 to share strategies at this year’s Superintendents’ Symposium, which was themed “Igniting Excellence Together: Collaborative Leadership for Student Success.”

Fremont USD Superintendent CJ Cammack hosted a special conversation with Frederick Hess and Pedro Noguera, authors of the book “A Search for Common Ground.” Keynote presentations were given by Heather McGhee, author of “The Sum of Us,” and Hadi Partovi, CEO of education nonprofit Code.org.

“It’s a chance to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with colleagues, to learn from people who have been in similar situations and to gather ideas from people that you haven’t yet met,” said Cammack, chair of the conference planning committee. “It’s about making sure that you’re able to gather the knowledge that your district needs you to have in the moment to lead successfully.”
