Whitman Continuation High School student Jourden Webb’s photograph titled “HOPE” won first place in the 43rd District Congressional Art Competition. This marks the first time an educational options school has participated in this annual competition held by Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
Among the 107 entries, Jourden’s photograph captured the judges’ attention with its profound message. Jourden’s artistic abilities have been nurtured by his photography teacher Misty Cervantes as well as Charles, who selected Jourden’s photo entry for the competition.
This victory is not only a testament to Jourden’s skill and dedication but also a proud moment for the entire educational options schools community.
The photograph will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C., for one year, allowing “HOPE” to be appreciated by a national audience, symbolizing the talent and potential within educational options schools.
