12th grade, Frontier High, Oxnard Union HSD
Long before he had keys to a car, Brayan Hernandez knew how to keep things running. Raised in South Oxnard, Brayan stepped in to help care for his younger brothers, making sure they got to school, stayed focused, and felt supported. He didn’t always connect with school, but that changed when he transferred to Frontier High. With a fresh start, Brayan found a community that believed in him and challenged him to believe in himself. With encouragement from staff and a growing love for auto mechanics, he found his rhythm. Brayan graduated this spring and hopes to one day open his own body shop.
“I’m making something out of my life. I’m doing better for me, for my parents, for my brothers.”
