Sophia Kupelian is a radiant example of perseverance and grace. Diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 3, she lost her vision at age 4 and has endured hundreds of hospital visits due to hydrocephalus and repeated shunt failures. Despite these challenges, she never makes excuses. Sophia excels in every subject at Rosemont Middle, participates in all school activities, and brings quiet confidence, maturity, and joy to her campus. Her teachers describe her as wise beyond her years and a source of calm and kindness. She has turned personal hardship into a powerful lesson in how to live with compassion, purpose, and light.
“Sometimes we ask ourselves, ‘Why did I have to go through this?’ But, at the end of the day, we all have something that we’re struggling with.”
How about: Sophia Kupelian, who lost her vision at age 4, during a visit to Universal Studios.
