Every Student Succeeding Region 4: Jadyn Diaz

Jadyn Diaz has shown tremendous strength in the face of adversity. An avid basketball player, Jadyn faced setbacks when she was diagnosed with multiple hereditary exostoses (MHE), a rare genetic bone disease. Despite multiple surgeries, she always found a way to return to the court as a member of the Ukiah girls basketball team. Tragedy struck in June of 2021 when Jadyn’s mother passed away after a battle with breast cancer. Her mother’s selflessness left an indelible mark as Jadyn carries on her legacy. She will attend UC Santa Cruz in the fall and hopes to pursue a career as a radiologist.
“I believe that I have the opportunity to make things better. And I think that when you go through hard things, you have to know that there's better things coming. And I think that's the most important lesson that I've learned throughout my life.”
