Hashandra Dorsey came to Los Angeles with plans for what her life could become. Instead, her high school years were defined by housing instability. Some mornings required long commutes to Canoga Park High School. Some nights meant rebuilding a routine around a new place to sleep. Still, Hashandra kept showing up. She found joy in theater, became president of the Black Student Union and learned to advocate for herself and others. In June, she graduated from Canoga Park High School. Now a political science major at Cal State Northridge, Hashandra is building a future shaped by her own determination and ambition.
