12th grade, Cosumnes Oaks High School, Elk Grove USD
For years, Seven McIntosh lived with headaches no one could explain. After a fall at cheer practice, doctors found a four-centimeter malignant brain tumor pressing against her pituitary gland. What followed was two brain surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and a family that refused to let her face any of it alone. When chemotherapy took Seven’s hair, her mother shaved hers, too. Seven reached remission in June 2024, returned to school and graduated from Cosumnes Oaks High School in May. She now plans to attend Sacramento State and major in health science in hopes of becoming a pediatric nurse.
