More than 20 high school teams from throughout California competed in the 2022 H2GP California State Finals on March 26 in Pomona.

Students designed, engineered and built their own zero emission hydrogen fuel cell powered remote-controlled cars and then tested them during an endurance race. Students had to maintain and repair their car during the race, which lasted more than 500 laps for some teams.

Teams were also evaluated by a panel of judges on their technological knowledge, overall appearance of the vehicle, and other metrics. The top three teams will head to the Netherlands to face 17 other teams at the H2GP World Finals in June.
