Former Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources at Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Robert Martinez was the winner of the 2019 Ray Curry Award, which was presented during ACSA’s Personnel Institute, Oct. 2-4 in Long Beach. With a “people first” mantra and a focus on doing what’s best for students, Martinez said these commitments guided the department through good times and bad, including the Great Recession. Now the superintendent for the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Martinez gratefully accepted the award, thanking ACSA and his colleagues. “It is never lost upon me that recognitions are truly not just for one person, but serve as a testament for the work that was accomplished by a team of dedicated professionals,” he said.
