Name: Brian Meisenheimer Award: Personnel/Human Resources Administrator of the Year Title: Associate Superintendent of Human Resources, Merced City School District ACSA highlights: Member since 2007; VP of Programs, President-Elect, President and Member at Large, Merced Charter; Middle Grades Council Representative and VPLA, Region 9.
A former principal in Atwater Elementary School District, Brian Meisenheimer took his dedication to students and their success with him to Merced City School District, first as the director of pupil services and then as associate superintendent of human resources.
Meisenheimer’s work in human resources has allowed for the district to increase its staffing, directly leading to more counselors, social workers and behavioral support staff to work with students and families during the school day. He ensures that he is involved with programs and initiatives that promote positive school climates and has also overhauled the district’s teacher evaluation system in order to foster trust and collaboration.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Meisenheimer worked with Merced City School District leadership and its board to reopen schools for in-person instruction. Specifically, he helped to provide additional tutoring, food services for students at home and a credentialed staff member for all classrooms.
“Brian’s character is what has made him successful,” said Merced County Superintendent of Schools Steve Tietjen. “(He) is known for keeping his word and finding a way to support all stakeholders in his district. These are very difficult things to do in schools today.”
