Following the data security incident impacting retiree data hosted by a third-party vendor earlier this year, CalSTRS is providing regular updates on its webpage with resources for retirees who have been impacted or may have been impacted. These resources can be accessed at www.calstrs.com/information-about-pbi-data-security-incident.
They have also ramped up efforts to limit wait times at the CalSTRS call center, helping members identify if their data was impacted and what next steps are available to mitigate the risk of unauthorized access or misuse of information. Retirees who would like to find out if they were affected or who have additional concerns are encouraged to call 1-800-228-5453. Impacted retirees should have received a letter with their personalized account number as well.
CalPERS, which was also affected by the same data security incident, has also set up an informational page for retired members at calpers.ca.gov/PBI. Questions can also be sent to PBIquestions@calpers.ca.gov.
If members are concerned their data may have been impacted and they have not yet received a letter, they can speak to a CalPERS representative by calling 1-833-919-4735.
