ACSA advocates for streamlined reporting
ACSA member Dr. Patrick Gittisriboongul, superintendent of Lynwood Unified School District, recently testified in support of AB 2496 at a Senate Education Committee. AB 2496 would take a significant step forward in streamlining reporting requirements by identifying duplicative data on the School Accountability Report Card and other education systems so that our school leaders can focus on students first.
“This is not about taking information away from families,” Gittisriboongul said during his July 1 testimony. “It is about aligning California’s reporting requirements with the public accountability tools and data systems that already exist.”

ACSA requesting presenters for online learning sessions
ACSA’s Innovative Learning Services team is seeking dynamic presenters to develop and facilitate upcoming online learning sessions. Requests for proposals are currently being accepted for learning topics such as AI, budget literacy, cybersecurity, section 504, data-driven decision making, and more. Whether you’re an experienced presenter or have a fresh perspective to share, we encourage you to submit a proposal. ACSA is looking for engaging, practical, and actionable learning experiences that equip California school leaders with takeaways and strategies they can immediately apply in their schools and districts. Webinar on launching a personal finance course
The California Department of Education invites you to view a recording of the May 20 personal finance webinar “Launching Your Personal Finance Course” on the CDE’s personal finance web page, www.cde.ca.gov/ci/cr/cf/personalfinance.asp. Geared toward teachers and district administrators preparing for the new personal finance graduation requirement, the webinar features State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, the State Board of Education student member, the authors of the Personal Finance Curriculum Guide, and CDE staff. The webinar addresses statutory requirements, implementation challenges and solutions, curricular resources, professional learning, and course design.
