ACSA is proud to announce the hiring of Tracie Noriega as the Senior Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

“ACSA is an organization that seeks to challenge the historical opportunity gaps that confront many of our students and their respective communities,” said ACSA Executive Director Edgar Zazueta, Ed.D. “We believe this can only be achieved when we look at all of our challenges and opportunities through an equity lens.”
Noriega currently serves as the assistant superintendent of Educational Services at San Lorenzo Unified School District in Alameda County, which has a student population of 56 percent Hispanic/Latino, 13 percent Asian and 12 percent Black/African American.
“Our Senior Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion plays a pivotal role in shaping our professional development and legislative work at the state Capitol,” said Erin Simon, Ed.D., ACSA president and assistant superintendent in Long Beach Unified School. “We’re adding a student advocate to our team who has a wealth of knowledge and experience and puts students first.”
Prior to working at San Lorenzo USD, Noriega served 24 years as a teacher and administrator in the New Haven Unified School District, where she also served as a tri-chair on the district’s Equity Task Force and eventually Equity Council. She convened the Ethnic Studies Task Force at NHUSD and has been a frequent conference presenter on topics including anti-racist leadership and the implementation of Ethnic Studies.
She has also been an active ACSA member, serving as ACSA Region 6 Equity Committee Chair and ACSA Region 6 President, and has been a contributing writer for EdCal.
Noriega will begin her tenure with ACSA this summer.
