Documents outline privacy guidelines for remote learning
August 24, 2020
Due to distance learning, where the classroom begins and ends has raised a number of questions surrounding privacy and confidentiality for students, parents and employees.
Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost, LLP, and California IT in Education (CITE) have developed sample professional guidelines for distance learning participation that districts can share with staff and parents. These guidelines cover distance learning recording, consent requirements and student confidentiality.
Parents, students, and/or others are not authorized to audio or video record, stream, or share in any way, distance learning instruction or services without the express consent of all participants involved.
District IT staff are likely members of CITE and have access to these resources.
