R14: Equity Conference returns with renewed purpose
On Oct. 24, ACSA Region 14 proudly welcomed back its Equity Conference — returning with renewed energy and purpose. The day opened with an inspiring welcome from Dr. Carol Castro, who spearheaded this event and serves as Region 14’s representative on the state ACSA Council of Equity Leaders. She set the tone for meaningful reflection and collective commitment. State membership coordinator Charlene Lemons also joined the event to support member outreach and connect with attendees.
Participants engaged in deep self-reflective activities examining their own practices and exploring how their leadership supports equity across the educational landscape. Event co-host WestEd enriched the experience with Thinking Maps that sparked honest conversation and collaborative learning.
A highlight of the day was keynote speaker Dr. Ayele Dodoo, who facilitated thought-provoking discussions that centered the expertise in the room — creating space for shared learning and authentic dialogue.
The conference delivered a powerful, inspiring experience for those in the room — and left many already looking forward to next year.
