ACSA Mid-State Conference to be held March 4-6
The 7th annual ACSA Mid-State Conference is scheduled for March 4-6, 2022 at the San Luis Obispo Embassy Suites. The theme of the conference is Embracing Change. The conference is hosted by ACSA Regions 9, 10, 11 and 13.
The conference will present dynamic keynote speakers as well as exciting breakout sessions. The opening session on Friday night will begin with a keynote presentation by nationally recognized author Todd Nesloney speaking on “Get Off Your Island, Get Connected!” Nesloney is the director of Culture and Strategic Leadership for the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. He was previously a principal/lead learner at a preK-5 school in Texas. He is an award-winning author of “Kids Deserve It!”, “Stories From Webb”, “Sparks in the Dark” and his newest book, “When Kids Lead.”
On Saturday, there will be four rounds of breakout sessions on topics including:
  • Unfinished learning.
  • Employee management.
  • Workplace culture and leadership.
  • Systematic change.
  • Budgeting in the COVID era.
  • Communication and innovation.
  • Social Emotional Learning.
  • Leadership efficacy.
  • Employee wellness.
The Saturday general session will feature ACSA’s own Dr. Edgar Zazueta and Naj Alikhan in a live, in-person version of the
Sunday morning will feature a panel discussion on equity with Zandra Jo Galvan, president of the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA), Daryl Camp, president of the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA) and Isaac Huang, president of the California Association of Asian and Pacific Leaders in Education (CAAPLE). The general session speaker will be Steve Ventura. Ventura taught physical education and was a special education resource teacher and dean of students before becoming a district superintendent. As an author and consultant, Ventura hopes to create what he would have liked more of when he was teaching: a vibrant, encouraging, stimulating community of teachers and leaders, supporting each other toward excellence.
A pre-conference to the Mid-State Conference is scheduled for Friday, March 4. The workshop Building Culture will be led by Todd Nesloney.
COVID protocols will be in effect at the conference. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within three days of the conference will be required. Face masks will be required and provided as needed.
The ACSA Mid-State Conference registration includes dinner on Friday night as well as Saturday lunch. The conference will also include exciting exhibitors and door prizes.
