Sisterhood returns
October 18, 2021
ACSA held its first in-person professional development event since COVID-19 closures with the Sisterhood Symposium. Last year’s symposium in May 2020 was the first ACSA event that had to be canceled and reimagined as an online conference.

This year, event organizers held an online check-in during the month of May before hosting the in-person conference Sept. 24-25 in Alhambra. ACSA welcomed more than 200 attendees to the event, held at Almansor Court.

Attendees heard a keynote from County Superintendent of Schools Debra Durado from LA County Office of Education, a panel on supporting female leaders moderated by Michele Bowers, and sessions centered on the theme “R3: Re-Imagining, Re-Inventing, Re-Designing through Resilient Female Leadership.” They also received a special recorded message from California Secretary of State Shirley Weber.

On Friday night, attendees enjoyed a Paint & Dinner networking event.
