The Banning High School Broadway Broncos recently presented their production of The Lion King Jr., held at the Banning High School Performing Arts Center.
Set in the vibrant Pride Lands, the production was elevated by the remarkable work of Banning High School students, who designed and assembled many of the show’s colorful costumes and constructed the set pieces entirely in-house, including iconic elements like Pride Rock.
From detailed character costumes to imaginative representations of animals such as giraffes and elephants, students showcased both creativity and craftsmanship. Student leadership played a central role in the success of this production, with students taking ownership across nearly every aspect of the show, from lighting design and audio engineering to stage management, costume coordination, and front-of-house operations.
This level of student involvement not only strengthened the production but also provided valuable, real-world experience in theatre arts, collaboration, and leadership.
