Supts — register now for Symposium
October 18, 2021
California school superintendents will once again gather to discuss the state of K-12 education when ACSA’s Superintendents’ Symposium gets underway Jan. 26-28 in Indian Wells.
ACSA hosted a virtual Superintendents’ Symposium in 2021, which featured appearances from Gov. Gavin Newsom and Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond. At the time, Newsom had just released the Safe Schools for All plan to give schools a framework for returning to in-person instruction.
Now with schools reopened and students back in classrooms, county and district leaders can focus on other pressing needs for students.
“It’s very exciting to be able to hold this year’s symposium in person, providing superintendents the opportunity to collaborate and connect with one another after an extremely challenging couple of years,” said Parvin Ahmadi, ACSA vice president and chair of this year’s symposium planning committee.
In addition to holding this year’s symposium in person, organizers are planning to make some sessions available during a virtual simulcast of the event.
Guided by the theme “Thriving Together,” attendees will share information among a group of peers who understand the role of the superintendent and its challenges. Ahmadi said important topics that have been identified by superintendents for this event include: equity, school safety and social emotional support, virtual learning, social media, governance and leadership, funding, and family engagement.
“It has been wonderful to work with an outstanding team of superintendents and ACSA staff to plan this year’s event,” she said. “We look forward to seeing our colleagues from around the State in January.”
