Three ACSA seats to open on WASC commission

ACSA is seeking two regular members and one retired member to fill three seats on the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission, the body responsible for accrediting all schools in California.

The deadline to submit an application is April 7, 2023.

Thirty-five people serve on the WASC commission, and seven are members of ACSA. The new appointees will fill the seats held by ACSA representatives Grant Bennett, Juan Flecha and Diana Walsh-Reuss, whose terms are expiring.

ACSA members interested in serving as a representative to WASC must:

Have experience in accreditation, such as experience with the commission, experience as a chairperson and/or visiting committee member, or experience working on school self-study committees.
Have experience in working with the types of schools being accredited, such as public, private or parochial comprehensive high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, continuation high schools and adult schools.

Nominees should have high credibility with colleagues, recognized competence in their professional field and be committed to ensuring high quality education for all students.

They should be able and willing to devote the necessary time and energy to fully carry out the responsibilities of a commissioner.
