Three districts are top employers in California
October 19, 2020
“We are grateful and appreciative of earning a spot on the second annual Forbes Best Employers list, despite the challenges presented due to COVID-19,” said Alfonso Jimenez, superintendent of the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. “We know this is a true testament to the positive work environment and relationships that our district has established for all of our employees in support of providing the best education for all of our students. We are honored and humbled to be included in a list of top organizations/companies and one of three school districts in California to be recognized. We are thankful to all of our team members for contributing to this honor and confidence in our school district.”
Surveys were conducted from October 2019 to May 2020, and responses regarding the same employers were compared throughout the process, so as to account for any statistically significant variations in the results collected before and after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.  The ranking features some companies whose appearance on the list, in light of recent events, might come as a surprise, but they are a reflection of the feeling of their own workforces at the time they were surveyed. “Hacienda LaPuente USD is honored to be ranked among our state’s top employers. This prestigious recognition validates the hard work and steps we have taken to provide our dedicated teams of administrators, teachers and classified personnel throughout the district with a workplace that values diversity, inspires innovation and fosters personal and professional growth,” said Jill Rojas, Assistant Superintendent Human Resources, Hacienda La Puente USD.

Three K-12 school districts made the list of the top 100 employers in California in a recent Forbes magazine ranking.  Long Beach USD, Hacienda La Puente USD and Riverside USD placed in the Top 100 employers in California as recognized by Forbes magazine’s listing of America’s Best Employers.   Long Beach USD placed #5 in the ranking list after Delta Air Lines (#1), In-N-Out Burger (#2), Costco (#3) and Microsoft (#4). Hacienda La Puente USD ranked #41 on the list of best employers in California. Riverside Unified School District placed #92 on the list.  “We appreciate this recognition, especially given the continuing pandemic, because the methodology of the Forbes list emphasizes the safety of the work environment, among other factors, including competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement, and the real test — whether our employees would recommend us to others,” said Jill Baker, superintendent of the Long Beach Unified School District. “We thank our employees for the vote of confidence and for continuing to teach and nurture our students during these trying times.”   The American business magazine Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to pinpoint those organizations liked best by employees in their second annual ranking of America’s best employers by state. The list is divided into 51 rankings — one for each of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia — and was compiled by surveying 80,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees.
