Superintendent Jeffrey D. Jordan has announced his retirement from the Charter Oak Unified School District, effective Jan. 1, 2025. After a distinguished career spanning more than 34 years in K-12, Jordan will be stepping down from his role as the district’s leader.
He previously served as a teacher, coach, principal and district administrator before joining COUSD in 2019. As superintendent, he has been instrumental in driving positive change and fostering a strong educational environment. Under Jordan’s leadership, the district has achieved significant milestones, including improving educational technology, upgrading facilities, expanding mental health support, stabilizing the budget, prioritizing student academic support, cultivating a positive culture, strengthening community partnerships, and centralizing and increasing resources.
In 2022, the district established the Student and Family Resource Center, which offers vital resources and services to community members in need, including food, clothing, mental health referrals, assistance with homelessness and foster care, and parenting classes.
Jordan also successfully led the district through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the continuity of education and the safety of students and staff.
“I am incredibly proud of the accomplishments we have achieved together as a district family during my time as superintendent,” said Jordan. “The systems we have put in place, combined with our dedicated employees, will continue to ensure that all of our students receive a high-quality education and are best prepared for their futures.”
The Board of Trustees will begin the process of selecting Jordan’s successor in the coming months. Following his retirement, Jordan plans to travel and spend extended periods with his family.
“Superintendent Jordan has made a lasting impact on our district,” said Board of Trustees President Kristin McGuire. “His dedication, vision, and commitment to our students and staff have been invaluable. We are confident that Charter Oak will remain a tight-knit school community, dedicated to helping our students thrive and succeed.”
