Alice Petrossian has stepped down from her position as ACSA’s Partnership Executive after five years at the helm of the Partner4Purpose program, which has become a thriving, mission-driven program under her visionary leadership.
Petrossian was hired in 2020 at a time of transition for the program, when it was brought under the Member Services Department. With her ability to identify shared values between ACSA and its partners, she grew participation in the program from around $300,000 annually to nearly $1.5 million in annual revenue to support the association.
“A true connector at heart, Alice had a unique ability to help partners understand and realize their value within ACSA,” said ACSA Deputy Executive Director Margarita Cuizon-Armelino. “Her extensive knowledge of school leadership and student learning, combined with her genuine enthusiasm for ACSA, allowed her to create meaningful, lasting relationships that benefited everyone involved.”
Petrossian is an award-winning educator who served in multiple administrative positions in the Glendale Unified School District and retired as Pasadena USD’s Chief Academic Officer-Deputy Superintendent, having served several months as acting superintendent prior to her retirement. She was elected to serve as ACSA president in 2011-12. In 2005, ACSA awarded her with the Ferd. Kiesel Memorial Distinguished Service Award and in 2014 with its Marcus Foster Award for Administrator Excellence.
Petrossian said she wasn’t looking for a job when she was approached by former ACSA Executive Director Dr. Wes Smith to serve as ACSA’s Partnership Executive in 2020.
“I used to say I can’t sell anything, but learned very quickly that if you love, are passionate about, and believe in what you are selling, you can sell. Thus, the nearly five years of success with ACSA’s outstanding partners,” Petrossian said. “Success could not have been possible without the amazing support of ACSA staff, our truly generous partners, and my two teammates in the work, Joanne Godfrey and Alexis Rennacker — their dedication has been a key to the P4P success.”
Petrossian will continue to serve ACSA as a Region 16 recruiter in addition to serving as a staff liaison for state ACSA on the Council of Retired Leaders.
In stepping down from this full-time role, Petrossian plans on spending more time with family, especially watching her grandsons who play high school and university water polo. A proud daughter of Armenia who immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 9, Petrossian will continue volunteering in her home country, where she focuses on the issues of education and education leadership. One of her new projects is working through the Armenian Education Foundation to select and support scholarships for wounded soldiers, and families of the soldiers who lost their lives in a recent war.
ACSA has announced that Bob Lee has been hired as the association’s new Director of Partnership Accounts. Lee is a former president of ACSA (2007-08), longtime member and has most recently served the association as a membership recruiter for Region 7. Lee will use his wealth of experience and deep understanding of the association’s mission in leading ACSA’s Partner4Purpose program.
