ACSA Region 17 is happy to announce the following ACSA members who have recently promoted to the following positions: Randy Lempert, Principal of Whittier Elementary, Newport-Mesa USD; Mike Sciacca, Director of Teaching and Learning, Secondary, Newport-Mesa USD; and Rafael Plascencia, Director of Personnel, Tustin USD.
Karen Mix has been selected as Superintendent/Principal of Alta-Dutch Flat Union Elementary School District. She was previously principal at Deer Creek School in the Nevada City School District.
Four familiar Walnut Valley USD faces have been approved by the Board of Trustees in new administrative positions.
With over two decades of educational and administrative experience, Collegewood Elementary Principal Mary Wendland will join the district office staff on a one-year temporary basis to provide oversight of the TK-8 districtwide Virtual Learning/Independent Study Program. Her co-title will be Principal/Interim Director of Expanded Learning Opportunities.
Maple Hill Elementary Principal Kelly Morris, a 22-year education veteran, will transition as the new principal at Cyrus J. Morris Elementary. She succeeds Fayroze Mostafa who accepted a position as director of curriculum and instruction in the Charter Oak Unified School District this summer.
Kim McNeil has been named interim principal at Maple Hill Elementary School. With 17 years of educational experience, she has served as the school’s elementary learning specialist for the past five years. Prior to that, she was a teacher for 12 years.
South Pointe Middle School Assistant Principal Jeanette Schaller has been named Interim Principal at Collegewood Elementary to co-lead the school with Wendland this year. She brings nearly 15 years of educational experience to her new post. Retired Corona-Norco USD administrator Norma Berrellez has been tapped as interim assistant principal at South Pointe Middle School for the year.
