ACSA is saddened by the loss of Baldwin Park High School Principal Eric D. Lopez, who passed away unexpectedly Jan. 17, 2025. In a message from Baldwin Park USD Superintendent Froilan N. Mendoza, Lopez was remembered as an amazing leader who made a positive impact on the district, students, staff and families.
According to the district, Lopez was raised in the City of El Monte and graduated from El Monte High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Cruz and completed his administrative degree at National University.
His career began in the El Monte Union High School District as a social studies teacher, and then as an Assistant Principal. He joined BPUSD in August 2006, as an Assistant Principal at Sierra Vista High School, and later served as Principal at Jones and Olive Middle Schools before serving as Principal at Baldwin Park High School for the last three years.
“Mr. Lopez is remembered as an influential leader who had a caring and compassionate personality. His calm demeanor always provided assurance and stability,” Mendoza said. “He was dedicated to his family, colleagues, and friends, always willing to provide support. He was an integral part of BPUSD and built a great rapport with our community.”
