The Roseville Joint Union High School District announces the retirement of Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Brad Basham. Basham’s retirement marks the end of a distinguished 37-year career in public education, all of which was dedicated to the students and staff of the Roseville community.
A “homegrown” leader, Basham’s journey with the district began long before his professional career; he is a proud 1983 graduate of Oakmont High School. He returned to the district in 1989 to begin his teaching career in the science department at Roseville High School. Over the next three decades, Basham served in nearly every facet of campus life, from classroom teacher and student activities director to principal and, eventually, district-level executive leadership.
“Brad Basham has been a pillar of RJUHSD for nearly four decades,” said Superintendent John Becker. “From the classroom to the cabinet, Brad’s deep roots in this community and his unwavering commitment to our staff and students have left an indelible mark. His leadership in human resources and labor negotiations has fostered a culture of stability and mutual respect that will benefit our district for years to come.”
Basham’s administrative career is highlighted by his tenure as principal of Roseville High School from 2006 to 2014, a period of significant growth for the school. In 2014, he transitioned to the district office as executive director of HR before being appointed assistant superintendent in 2018.
For the past eight years, Basham has served as the district’s chief negotiator, a role where he was known for his collaborative approach to labor relations. His expertise extended beyond district boundaries, as he frequently shared his knowledge through the ACSA Personnel Institute, the Placer County HR Consortium, and the California High School Coalition.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the community that raised me,” Basham said. “From my days as a student at Oakmont to leading the Human Resources department, I have been fortunate to work alongside some of the most dedicated educators in California. I look forward to seeing the district continue to thrive and ‘elevate’ the standard of education for our students.”
The Governing Board of the Palo Alto Unified School District is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Jason E. Glass as superintendent of schools, effective July 1, 2026.
Glass has led at nearly every level of public education, ranging from early childhood through higher education — as superintendent, as a state education chief, and as a university administrator. His career has centered on the question: how schools sustain exceptional learning while taking the experiences and wellbeing of their students just as seriously. Glass will begin his tenure not with an agenda but with a listening process, working alongside the board, staff, families, and students.
