ACSA members in their first or second year in any new administrative position are eligible to receive a skilled and experienced mentor. Mentors are often retired administrators who want to give back to their profession. Establishing these professional relationships has proven to be an invaluable step in building successful careers.
Go to www.acsa.org/mentorprogram and fill out the application where you can sign up to be a protégé or a mentor. There is no additional charge for this service. Upon completion of the form, you will be contacted by one of our volunteer regional facilitators.
Here’s what participants are saying:
“Participating in the ACSA Mentor Program has provided me an invaluable support during my first years as a new principal. The opportunity to connect with an experienced peer on a regular basis has allowed me to protect time for reflection, advice and encouragement. I recommend to any new leader, or leader in a new role, to seek this support.”
“Having a mentor has been invaluable. I sincerely appreciate the informal structure set up that allows for an authentic and safe place to air thoughts. My thinking partner has supported me in many facets. Her experience as a practitioner has been encouraging as I navigate my new role.”
“The mentor program has provided me with support from a seasoned, accomplished and extraordinary leader. He guides me to devise real-world solutions to the kind of challenges I believe all administrators face, for which my credential program couldn’t possibly prepare me. I credit a great deal of my administrative success to his service on my behalf.”
